Come see the creative process in action
Throughout October, join JDPE in residence at the Studio at Billings Forge, 539 Broad Street in downtown Hartford. Stop by any Thursday between 9:30-12:30 for Open Rehearsals of the new work, In This House, premiering in April 2011. Told through the voice of the historic Hempsted House in New London, CT, the piece provides insights into slavery in New England, the Abolitionist movement and a contemporary integrated and interracial neighborhood.
Add your voice: Participate in a Q/A with JDPP staff from 11:30-12:30 on Oct 7 and 21 or in a conversation with Artistic Director Judy Dworin at noon on Oct 14. The residency culminates on Oct 28 with a preview at 11:30 of JDPE’s Time In, returning to Hartford on November 12th & 13th at Charter Oak Cultural Center.
What are your thoughts on how we create work, using improvisational dance as a catalyst? How does the subject of the piece effect you?
